Habakkuk and Jesus

Mondays 10-11:30AM | Holley | Led by Anna Davignon

This is a line upon line 10 week study of the book Habakkuk. It is called A Faith to Cling to and is found in the Blue Letter Bible resources. This book prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem and the exile into Babylon. It is it is discouraging and encouraging, terrifying and comforting, a picture of Jewish culture and a picture of our own. It will make you cry out to God and He will answer.
The first week of each month will be dedicated to a study of the names of Jesus. We had done a study of the names of God in the Old Testament and with the sermon presentation of Pastor Mark on this topic, an interest has been expressed to do one on the names of Jesus.

How to Study the Bible

Tuesdays 7:00 - 9:00PM | Holley | Led by Ed and Anna Davignon

Genesis 6:14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt PITCH it within and without with PITCH. Did you know that the words for pitch in this scripture are two different words? Do you know the word picture behind each one?
This course is designed to help you do word studies, scripture searches, find topical teachings or line upon line sermons on specific books in the Bible by many different authors. It puts resources at your finger tips to get a deeper, richer understanding of the Scriptures. We will be exploring the use and resources to be found in the Blue Letter Bible which is accessible from the church’s website.
The first word for pitch is kephar and has the additional image/meaning of atonement. The second one is kopher and has an additional meaning of a ransom. So the ark is a picture of the crucifixion and our salvation.

None to take the course. Access to a computer, tablet or phone with internet to use this information.

Strengthen Yourself in the Lord

Wednesdays 7:00 - 8:30PM | Brockport | Led by Joel and Katelyn Peers

“David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” ~ I Samuel 30.6

David was schooled for kingship through the testing of his ability to believe and walk in the Word over his life, even when circumstances seemed to oppose and deny his destiny. Jesus died to restore us to a relationship with God where we partner with Him as kings and priests to bring the world around us under His rule and reign.

What does it mean to be seated with Christ in heavenly places? (Ephesians 2.6) How did David strengthen himself in the Lord? Let’s learn together and grow in our faith!

Small Matters:

End-Time Surprises

Thursdays 7:00 - 8:30 PM | Brockport | Led by Dave Scheer

Featuring many surprises from Daniel’s visions, 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2, Matthew 24, Luke 21, 2 Peter 3, Revelation, as well as Biblical info about Anti-Christ, 666, the rapture, and misconceptions. We’ll explore the fascinating method of eschatology through the eyes of history and we’ll see many amazing fulfillments throughout most of the Book of Revelation. The futuristic approach asserts that most of Revelation has not yet been fulfilled whereas the historicists claim the opposite, that is, most has already happened, including Anti-Christ overpowering the saints. Most Christians have been exposed only to dispensational (futuristic) thinking, but when exposed to history, especially church history, a whole new way of interpreting prophecy opens up. You may have some wonderful paradigm shifts if you join. As I have studied this issue for several years, it helped me to see God’s Big Picture and that further motivated me to love and serve Him, and to have more optimism as we head toward the Second Coming. Come join the fun discovering surprises that will make sense and get you excited to know Jesus deeper still.

Theology and Values – Where Christ Community stands

Sundays 7:00 - 9:00PM | Brockport | Led by Pastor Bruce

I’m holding four special small group meetings on the first Sunday evening of each month from March to June, with the idea of continuing those in the Fall. I’m covering some major points of theology from a reformed doctrine point of view, along with important values we hold as a church ministry. I’m designing this for current and future leaders, so if you would like to attend you have to apply and I’ll let you know if I can accommodate you in this group. There will be homework, a book to purchase and a commitment to discussion when we do meet. The time of the meeting is negotiable, depending on the availability of those involved.
