Since 1966, Athletes in Action has been using sports as a platform to help people answer questions of faith and to point them to Jesus. They believe that sports has the power to open doors and create connections in a way that few other things can, and that’s why they are constantly working to create new ways of reaching out to athletes and sports fans alike. Ultimately, their goal is to see peoples’ lives changed as they discover God’s purpose for their life.
Gary and Jan Sauer have ministered to athletes at The College at Brockport since August 2010. Utilizing the philosophy of “servant leadership” they have strived to build relationships with the athletes by finding ways to enhance their athletic experience and to benefit their teams. Their goal is to “Demonstrate the Love of Christ to Demystify the Character of God” so that each athlete has the opportunity to know God personally and to build a relationship with Christ.
