The goal of “Sewing Blessings for Children” is to focus on giving our talents, time, and resources to the Lord through making very simple clothing for children who have little or none. We’ll show you very easy ways to turn pillowcases into dresses for girls; and/or make very simple shorts for boys. The finished items will be donated to Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes, an outreach of Samaritan’s Purse that our church enthusiastically participates in every year.
The Bible study has been composed by the co-leaders, centered on various biblical reasons for this type of service to others.
Sewing machine skills needed are minimal. Hand-sewing entire dresses, or embellishments on the garments; pinning, cutting, pressing, and encouraging others are just as important in the process!
We have new and gently-used pillowcases, fabric, thread, trims, and elastic you can use; or you can bring your own. Cost: can be $0 if you choose! Of course, more donations of these items are always welcome. Bringing a portable sewing machine is a plus, but not necessary; we have a few extras available.
